Coat Color
Amber (Discovered in the Norwegian Forest Cat)

The Amber variant results in a rare golden coat color called amber which was first discovered in Norwegian Forest Cats.
More Info
Did you know?
Amber kittens are born with a dark coat color. As the kittens mature, the dark pigments are gradually replaced with red/yellow pigments leading to a golden amber coat color.
How it works
Two copies of the Amber variant are needed for this golden coat color to be seen. However, the trait may be hidden by other coat modifying variants such as Dominant White and Orange.
Prevalence
1 in 910 cats
has one or more copy of this genetic variant in our testing.
