More Info
Did you know?
Shetland sheepdogs are unusual in that they do not carry the common dominant black variant, so all black-colored Shelties are recessive black.
How it works
Two copies of the Recessive Black variant are needed for a black coat to be seen, and also an absence of other coat modifying variants such as chocolate and recessive red.
Prevalence
1 in 10 dogs
has one or more copy of this genetic variant in our testing.
