Genetic testing provides a link to the past and a guide for the future. By learning a pet’s full story, pet parents can make informed choices and give their pets the life they deserve.
Sometimes the results reveal an unexpected breed mix or behaviour trait that helps their humans personalise their training or exercise. Other times they highlight a health risk that impacts decisions around nutrition or medication use. No matter what the results show, they bring pets and their people closer together—and that’s one of the best parts of our 20+ year journey at Wisdom Panel.
In celebration of testing 5 million pets, we’re sharing a few of the stories we’ve collected from our Wisdom Panel pack. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Bella’s story: An eclectic breed mix
Bella was in rough shape when she was picked up as a stray. Not only did she find a forever home, a Wisdom Panel DNA test revealed a fun breed mix (can you say cavapoochon sprocker?!) and, thanks to the relatives feature, enabled her family to contact her biological sister’s pet parents so they could compare stories.

Frederick’s story: A young dad
Frederick’s pet parents never would have guessed he was a Saluki/Australian Cattle Dog mix, but his looks and behaviour made so much more sense when they saw his breed report. But that wasn’t the only interesting discovery. They also learned Frederick fathered a litter when he was just a teen. Now, his pet parents are doing DNA tests on their other dogs with the hope of uncovering their relatives, too.

Cubby’s story: Long locks, explained
Cubby’s pet parents suspected he was a Staffordshire Terrier mix, but his long hair was throwing them off. A Wisdom Panel DNA test revealed he had a small percentage of Saint Bernard, which made Cubby’s looks (and some personality traits, too) make a lot more sense.

Tink’s story: The perfect retirement home
Tink was adopted as a senior dog and mystery mutt. Getting a detailed breed report from Wisdom Panel helped her pet parents understand her needs and behaviours so they could give her the perfect retirement home for her golden years.

Fuji’s story: She’s all ears
Fuji’s pet parents couldn’t figure out why she had such large ears. A Wisdom Panel DNA test gave them the answers. Egyptian Mau makes up a quarter of her breed mix, explaining her sizable ears (and her exotic good looks).

Enzo’s story: Filling in the gaps
Enzo’s pet parents didn’t know much about their pup’s background. That is, until Wisdom Panel’s relative finder enabled them to get in touch with the humans of Enzo’s biological parents. They were able to get helpful information and see photos of Enzo as a puppy with his littermates.
